More Thrift Store Finds

I think this is going to be a common post title... it's kind of my new hobby. I used to enjoy hunting around at thrift stores, then I had kids and got busy and never found the time. Then Husb got me started again when he pulled into a Value Village on our date and told me he'd buy me anything I wanted. I got some goodies that time. Now I am hooked.

Last week, my Mom and I went to the thrift shop in Cle Elum, and I found this sweet milk-glass soap dish for $1.99...

Totally cute! And my mom had a bar of soap that fit and was the right color for my bathroom! It doesn't have a brand on the bottom but I can tell it is old.

So then the other day, my Sister In Law told me she was going to Goodwill. I asked her what she was shopping for, and she said she was just donating items. When I told her thrift store shopping was my new hobby, she asked if I wanted to go with her and shop, and what do you think I said? I came out with a few goodies...

First, mom, these are for you...

Those of you who do canning might know these are a very hard to find jar. They came in at $0.49 each. They don't make them any more, and they are perfect for dilly beans...

These straight, tall ones are preferred over the ones that "bell" out from the mouth of the jar because those are harder to stuff the beans down into, and the height of these ones allows room for the garlic and dill at the bottom, too.

The next finds were these dishes...

The small dish, probably meant to be a soap dish, was too cute to pass up for $0.99. Very simple, with clean lines, I'm sure it will come in handy for something. And the large dish is actually supposed to be a plate for under a plant pot. It was $1.99. I plan to paint it and use it to keep the candles I scored from my mom, on my nightstand.

Next, we have a couple metal pieces...

I had been hunting for a short pewter candle stick to complement the one I got last time, and got this one for $4.99, which is not bad for a pewter piece. Now, the urn... I could tell by the distressing that it was not real pewter or silver. I turned it over, to see that it did have a mark...

But what was it?

I am not super familiar with Restoration Hardware, but familiar enough to know that $1.99 for one of their pieces is probably a good deal! Score! And along with the candle stick, it rounds out my pewter collection nicely...

I need candles in those candle sticks! I don't have the energy to go do it and retake the picture because this is who is next to me...

I made him the computer, since he was sadly typing away on a blank counter-top. He copied my every move; typing, clicking the mouse and even taking sips of his chocolate milk when I took sips of my homemade caramel macchiato. He even got up and and copied me while I took pics. The energy draining parts were when he would say "Take a drink of your chocolate milk, Mom" every couple minutes, because he wanted to be able to copy me and take a drink of his. Or when he kept bumping my mouse hand and making me click on the wrong thing.

Blogging is rough! ;)
