wiww

I’m back again with a what I wore Wednesday!  I lied yesterday and told you I was going to share a little progress in my bathroom, but I forgot about WIWW, so that will be in tomorrow’s post.  And don’t miss it because I need your help with something!

I’m not sure if I’m going to keep doing WIWW… it doesn’t really seem to motivate me to put on something every single day; I just end up only sharing with you the outfits when I do get dressed!  Maybe I’ll just share the extra cute outfits with you in “outfit posts” once in a while?  I don’t know…

Tell me if you notice a theme this week… Here we go!

These first two are from last week…  Shhh!  Don’t tell.

Jeans: thrifted sevens

Tank: Maurices, from mom

Cardi: Target

Shoes: TOMS

Necklace: had it forever, from mom

Earrings & bangles: thrifted

I call this outfit: “navy stripes with a red cardigan”.

Dress, cardi, belt & shoes: Target, all last year

This was on Resurrection Sunday.  I bought this dress for a wedding I photographed last year, and I love it because you can put any color with it, any time of year.  I always feel classy in it.

Jeans: thrifted sevens

Shirt: Old Navy

Cardi, Scarf & Earrings: Target

Shoes: TOMS

I call this outfit “navy stripes with a red cardigan” oh, “and a scarf”.

Sweater: Forever21 (men’s)

Skirt: Forever 21

Leggings: Vera Wang, Kohl’s

Boots: Target last year

Scarf: H&M last year

Inspired by this pin.  This was an awesome outfit because it was date night but I was feeling “fluffy” that day.  The skirt was cute and tight so hubs was happy, but the sweater and scarf felt comfy without being clingy.  Loved this.  Such a hot date, too… mom had the kids so we went to Staples on a Thursday night and got office supplies for our business.  That’s red hot monogamy, right there.  We did end up at Outback for a bloomin’ onion, though.  So fancy.

Jeans: GAP outlet

Top: thrifted Forever 21

Cardi & boots: Target

I like to call this one… “navy stripes with a red cardigan.”  REALLY, TASHA???  I totally didn’t realize until putting this post together that I did this same outfit (three different shirts, mind you) THREE TIMES!!!  In a week.  Who does that?  The funny thing is that each time, I was giving myself kudos for putting the (same) red cardi with shirts I hadn’t worn it with yet, and loving the sort of nautical navy and red vibe.  EACH TIME.  I am such a flake.

Dress: Maurices, from Mom

Cardi & boots: Target

Wore this to church and to a friend’s BBQ.  I <3 cowgirl boots, by the way.  They spunk up a dress nicely and go with more than I had thought they would.

Jean jacket: GAP, from Sarah (we traded jean jackets!)

Gingham shirt: Old Navy last year

Skirt: Forever 21

Boots: Target last year

Earrings: made them

This outfit was fun!  I liked the textures of the denim / gingham / lace / and leather boots.  I wore this out to a movie with hubby and some friends for my birthday.  And before the movie we ended up killing time at DQ.  I was the only one who dressed up.  I’m okay with this now.  I enjoy dressing up a little whenever we go out with friends, and I have given up on figuring if anyone else is going to dress up and if I’ll be over dressed.  I just wear something I like, that hopefully my hubby likes.  Hey, when you have kids and you don’t get out that much, you have to make the most of it.

Well that was my week (and a half) of outfits.  Next week I need to shop for jeans.  I am down to only my skinny jeans – everything else has holes!  My Sevens above are okay with a hole, but I am tired of just having flares or skinnies.  I need a good straight leg and a good trouser.  I feel like I need some different shirt styles but not sure what to get… maybe a bunch of stuff I can mix and match and layer?  Not sure.  For now, I need to spend the budget on some jeans.

What is on your fashion must-have list right now?

Hey, I think this is a good roundup of outfits – at least for me!

DSC_0209 DSC_0214

Jeans: thrifted sevens

Sweater: Forever 21

Necklace: World Market

Shoes: Toms

This was a plain Jane no brainer day.  Notice, I left the sunglasses on my head to show you it was actually sunny that day!  I didn’t have to cover up my outfit with my Northface jacket for once!  Oh, Pacific Northwest.  Also, this sweater and necklace took “tone on tone” to a whole new level – an even more boring one.  ;)   And, my hair is two different colors in those two pictures.  I just like to change things up every few minutes, you know.  ;)

Dress, boots, tights & cardi: Target

Belt: thrifted

Deer necklace: Forever 21

Date night with hubby and a friend of ours out to see The Hunger Games.  Might have also worn it to church.  Loved this outfit.  The dress fits a little tight in the arms, and I know a friend said the same, but it’s worth it.  Beauty is pain, right?  I might be brave and try to alter it, or I might be lazy and leave it.  We shall see.  Notice, I have officially entered the trend of colored tights?  Husband said, “Why are your legs yellow?” I said, “I know, it is kinda weird right, but kinda cool?” He had no comment.

Jeans: GAP Outlet

Boots, earrings & cardi: Target

Top: Forever 21

Necklace: thrifted

This was out to dinner with the in-laws – also loved this outfit.  Flowy and feminine and comfortable.  Felt a little fancy without trying too hard.  Easy.  Man, that cardi is getting a workout.

DSC_0337

Boots, scarf & leggings: Target

Boot socks: H&M last fall

Cardi: Shade clothing Co. (thanks mom!)

also wore red and gold thrifted earrings –forgot to do jewelry shot.

I wore this to do an errand and go to IKEA.  Also totally comfy and felt feminine.  The sweater was a good length – long enough to cover everything but not so long that I wasn’t sure if it was a dress.  I have also officially entered the trend of cardi w/ leggings.  I entered the trend of boot socks some time ago, and the youth group kids won’t stop hassling me that they are cheesey – please, send reinforcements.  They won’t listen to reason Pinterest.  I am right, right?  I love them no matter what.

So what have guys been wearing this week?  What trends are you diving into?

I am linking up with WIWW over on the Pleated Poppy.

Peace!

PS:  I digress, posing in the mirror is so much easier than my other options of having a toddler or teenager take the picture 26 times, and me still ending up looking pregnant or having a double chin.

PPS:  when I buy my laptop (this week!) and am blissfully reunited with my beloved Photoshop, I am totally editing out the heater vent behind me in these pics.

Wow, apparently I only got dressed three times this week.  I believe it.  It was one of those weeks.

Scarf & cardi:  Target

Tee: American Apparell

Jeans: thrifted Sevens

Bracelet:  made it

Earrings:  Kohl’s last fall

I am trying to wear different things with my Cardigans now other than just tanks.  I like this casual look.  I need more good tee shirts.  American Apparel is stinking expensive, but I cannot find a comparable tee anywhere else.  It is all in that slinky, not clingy material and a good fit.

My friend Sarah took that picture while we were at work.  I needed a new blog profile picture.  Thanks Sarah!  I will put it on my blog profile soon. =)

Cardi,  tank & shoes: Target

Belt: ?

Jeans: thrifted Sevens

This is one of my few stripes-don’t-look-good-on-me-but-I-don’t-care outfits.  I can’t help it, I love stripes.

Lastly, this one was pretty much a fail…

DSC_0205

Jean Jacket: Gap Outlet

Tee: American Apparell

Skirt: Hanes.com years ago

Shoes: TOMS

Scarf: Target

It doesn’t help that I didn’t have time to dry and fix my hair.  I had just gone running and was on my way to a meeting with hubby and our insurance agent.  I think the skirt is too blah and has to go.  I was trying to give it another chance.  Also, I think jean jackets are not for me… wahhhh!!!  I have huge shoulders, and to get them to fit my shoulders I end up feeling like the jacket is big and boxy.  I’m not sure if it is just the cut on this one or what.

After I made a 9 year old take that photo, Susie wanted to have her picture taken, too, but when I tried…

DSC_0046

As usual, she proceeded to stand there and fuss and I just now figured out, why she always does that.  She wants her picture taken with me!  So next time you will get to see her happy face and her we-are-potty-training-right-now-so-cut-me-some-slack-outfit-of-awesomeness.

It seems my daughter and I both have an affinity for outfits-that-require-multiple-word-hyphenated-explanations.  Runs in the family I guess.

Wow, I actually have a fair amount of outfits to share this week.  The quality of those outfits, I am not so sure about, but, it is what it is.

I think this was a work outfit (it is freezing at work, so the ugg-type boots help!)…

Shirt:  thrifted Wet Seal

Jeans:  thrifted Citizens (I added patches)

Boots: Bear Paws, from Fred Meyer

Earrings: made myself

Next up, I wore this to a little family reunion with my cousins and all of our families and kiddos (haha my 5-year-old took this shot)…

Which brings us to date night.  Date night this week was hubby’s company night at a hockey game, so it wasn’t too formal, and I had to dress warm!

How did I do this week?  What was your favorite pick?

phew!  I thought I only had one outfit to share with you from this week, but I just came across two more.  good.

this one is bad.  very bad…

DSC_0870

pants: Old Navy, shirt: Target, tank: Target, Cardi: Target

Same tops as an outfit from last week but I have figured out that yoga pants can be incorporated into outfits and still be somewhat stylish maybe kinda sometimes.  A very dangerous discovery.  when I left the house I put on my fake Uggs to further cement the fact that I am so fashionable.  Right?

DSC_0756

jeans: Sevens (thrifted), shoes: Toms, tank: thrifted, Cardi: Target, necklace: Forever 21 (old)

Yet another tank and Cardi combo.  My fallback outfit.

DSC_0873

pants: GAP (outlet), boots: Target, boot socks: H&M, top: thrifted, Cardi: Target, necklace: World Market

I came up with this by copying the long shirt with cardi outfit Leah did for my mom for her fashion consultation last weekend.

And I will have you know, my 5 year old son took that photo!  I got tired of having horrible self-fashion-photos, and set it up and made him do it.  That was his first try.  He is hired.  As long as he doesn’t digress like last time I gave him the camera.

Also, I am wearing a zipper flower (in my hair) and crocheted flower ring that my dear friend made me.  Thanks Sarah!

I have been trying on a new and a Pinterest-inspired outfit for date night which hubby is promising me this weekend…

DSC_0855 DSC_0867

I couldn’t wear the second one in public without some serious safety pinning… I don’t know how the girl on Pinterest did it.  I think the floral wins at this point.

And don’t get excited about my hair – it looks like that for 20 minutes when I get out of the shower, and as soon as I commit to keep it that way (not dry and iron it it), it goes plain frizzy.  You can even tell in the ten minutes between the pictures, the second one is worse.  Lame.

Time to go watch Lost from in bed.  Has anyone else sunk to the level of  watching TV in bed?  Am I just getting old?  Or have you always had a TV in the bedroom?  I always hated TVs in bedrooms, and sort of still do.  Except for every single night when we cuddle up and watch our Lost.  We are almost done with the series though… then we have to find a new one!

wiww

WIWW is succeeding in challenging me… chronicling what I wear has driven home the fact that I wear the same type thing all the time!  I see that I need to work on layering things other than tops with cardigans!  I also need to take better photos, whoa!  I need to just forget the mirror and start using my timer.

Nevertheless, here are a few outfits from this past week...

First up, I'm not sold on this one yet...

wiww3b
Top: thrifted
Vest: hand-me-down
Jeans: GAP Outlet
Boots: thrifted FRYEs

My friend Sarah gave me the woolly vest she hadn't been wearing (thanks, Sarah)!  I was excited and knew the first outfit I would wear it with.  I tried it on, felt a little funny, and wore it but felt like 70's gone bad all day!  What are you ladies' thoughts, as best as you can tell from the horrible picture!

Then I had pinned a color inspiration of mustard and plum on Pinterest, which made this combo catch my eye in my closet...

wiww3a
Cardi: Old Navy last fall
Ruffle/lace tank: thrifted

I took the pic while babysitting for my sister-in-law and she didn't have a full length mirror.  I liked the combo and wouldn't have thought of pairing them without Pinterest!

Then today I was excited to put this on!...

DSC_0807
Cardi: Target; Mossimo Boyfriend Cardi in Red
Tee: Target; Mossimo Graphic Tee
Jeans: thrifted Sevens
Shoes: Toms
Sparrow Necklace: socovert.com (I don't see it there right now)

I have pinned graphic tee and cardigan combos on my Pinterest fashion board, but hadn't found a graphic tee I liked until now!  This one is on sale online for $5 right now.  I am happy with the fun, colorful, comfy and casual look.  Success!

What have you ladies been loving lately in the fashion world?

WIWW

Did you all like how I jumped right into What I Wore Wednesday without it being a Wednesday last time?  Was anyone confused?  When I read my first WIWW over on the Pleated Poppy, I was like, “Why are there so many out fits???  She wore 5 different outfits on Wednesday???”  My slow little brain eventually figured out she was posting what she wore for the week on Wednesday.  Slow.  Someone told me last weekend that I need more RAM.  In my brain.  Sad but true.

So since it is WEDNESDAY, I am showing you what I wore this week.  =)

 WP_000867

Got this green sweater from Forever21 (my new weakness), and really like it.  It was $12.  Goes great over my ON gingham shirt from last summer.  I got the heart locket from F21 for $2.80 (I needed to spend two bucks to get free shipping!), it appears to be sold out.

I had to take a pic of little Susie this week for the first edition of What Susie Wore Wednesday…

Photo_18D59367-BB43-53E2-48BE-8FA5B55BB89C

Check her out copying my stripes and yellow from last time!  And I know she is blurry (phone cam) but check out her posing, that little sassy pants.  Dress and shoes are Gap Outlet (not online), those shoes are little TOMS copy cats – so cute.  Sweater was Target last summer.  Leggings are Old Navy.

And lastly, I actually took a picture for you using my big girl camera…

DSC_0553

I am trying to rock the leggings more apart from wearing them under dresses – but it feels so … naked!  I got away with doing it here with this shirt which is basically for all intents and purposes almost a dress.  I have to ease myself into these things.  I probably should have layered in boot socks, and in fact, I froze that day, so I really should have.  Shirt is from Plato’s Closet, $3.  Leggings are Target (I like their wide waistband).  Boots are BearPaws from Fred Meyer – thanks mom!

Don’t forget to check out all the other ladies’ WIWW on today’s post over at the Pleated Poppy!

Peace!

what i wore wednesday

I decided to challenge myself by starting to share “what I wore wednesday” as started by the Pleated Poppy.  Don’t worry, I will not bore you with the majority of my outfits which consist of yoga pants and my MollyMoon shirt, but when I do come up with something presentable, I think sharing it here will encourage me to keep it up, try more often for a great outfit and be brave about fashion!  So here goes, a couple outfits from last week…

First up is date night, and looking at this, it was actually back when we were “snowed in” almost two weeks ago.

pinstripewiwwstripes

Kinda hard to see, sorry lighting was bad.  Manly the Pinspiration was just that I wanted a striped skirt.  How delighted was I to find this one at Forever21 for $7.80?!  If you need one, it is actually only $5.80 now!  I paired it with this sweater, leggings, boots and boot socks, and a belt at the hem of the shirt.

By the way, I am having a little love affair with Forever 21 right now.  Really love their mix and match atmosphere and LOVE their low prices.  Recently got two sweaters at Gap Outlet - $25/each and that was at 50% off!  Taking them back.  Got two at Forever 21 for $14 and $17.  Also, I love H&M but they are twice as far away, so I don’t get there often.  Same atmosphere, probably even a little more in style or edgy fashion.

Next we have another outfit inspired by a pin…

wiwwpinyelwuwwyeltxt

Love the navy stripes with the bright yellow!  I have a couple yellow and stripes things pinned, actually.

Lastly, I almost got rid of this dress.  I was showing Leah, my professional fashion advisor =), and we were about to dump it, when we had the idea to add the belt and “untuck” the top of the shirt, shortening the dress, which is okay with leggings.  It works!

wiwwplaid

I have worn it twice, since then Leah!

So that’s been my good outfits over like the last… almost two weeks!  Or at least the ones I remembered to take pictures of.  How many days a week do you all make the fashion happen???
