wiww

phew!  I thought I only had one outfit to share with you from this week, but I just came across two more.  good.

this one is bad.  very bad…

pants: Old Navy, shirt: Target, tank: Target, Cardi: Target

Same tops as an outfit from last week but I have figured out that yoga pants can be incorporated into outfits and still be somewhat stylish maybe kinda sometimes.  A very dangerous discovery.  when I left the house I put on my fake Uggs to further cement the fact that I am so fashionable.  Right?

jeans: Sevens (thrifted), shoes: Toms, tank: thrifted, Cardi: Target, necklace: Forever 21 (old)

Yet another tank and Cardi combo.  My fallback outfit.

pants: GAP (outlet), boots: Target, boot socks: H&M, top: thrifted, Cardi: Target, necklace: World Market

I came up with this by copying the long shirt with cardi outfit Leah did for my mom for her fashion consultation last weekend.

And I will have you know, my 5 year old son took that photo!  I got tired of having horrible self-fashion-photos, and set it up and made him do it.  That was his first try.  He is hired.  As long as he doesn’t digress like last time I gave him the camera.

Also, I am wearing a zipper flower (in my hair) and crocheted flower ring that my dear friend made me.  Thanks Sarah!

I have been trying on a new and a Pinterest-inspired outfit for date night which hubby is promising me this weekend…

I couldn’t wear the second one in public without some serious safety pinning… I don’t know how the girl on Pinterest did it.  I think the floral wins at this point.

And don’t get excited about my hair – it looks like that for 20 minutes when I get out of the shower, and as soon as I commit to keep it that way (not dry and iron it it), it goes plain frizzy.  You can even tell in the ten minutes between the pictures, the second one is worse.  Lame.

Time to go watch Lost from in bed.  Has anyone else sunk to the level of  watching TV in bed?  Am I just getting old?  Or have you always had a TV in the bedroom?  I always hated TVs in bedrooms, and sort of still do.  Except for every single night when we cuddle up and watch our Lost.  We are almost done with the series though… then we have to find a new one!

Linking up with WIWW on the Pleated Poppy!  Check out the other ladies making an effort to get out of the PJs every day!  Peace!

fashion 9-1-1

Did anyone notice my half-makeover on my blog?  I changed the template, and I really want to finish up but it is on hold until I get my new laptop and have Photoshop again!  Bear with me.  I know you are losing sleep over it, right?

Okay, so am I the only one who has fashion trouble, or at least closet trouble?  My dear friend Leah has come over and helped me with my closet countless times (literally, I couldn’t count them).  She puts her foot down and tells me to get rid of stuff.  She tells me I shouldn’t get rid of certain items and shows me how to wear them, so then I actually like them.  She puts together outfits I didn’t know I had and never would have thought of, and I sometimes make her take pictures of stated outfits so I can remember that I own them.  I keep telling her she could make money doing this for people.

Do any of you have a friend like that?

Look what she did for my mom this weekend…

Her wardrobe got a workout.  We included some detail shots; the one above was how to roll her skinny cargos up, and also showed that she could leave them down.

Leah did a good job giving her some options!

If you need fashion help, invite that girlfriend over who’s style you like, who can be honest with you, fix her some tea or coffee and maybe a little treat and have at it!  Actually, food is pretty much required to give you the strength you will need… following one of these sessions the aftermath can be frightening…

goals clipboard

hey y’all.  I recently pinned this goals list on Pinterest and decided to take it one step further and make my own version for my desk where I also do my sewing and crafting…

DSC_0780

I chose to paint and distress an old clipboard with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey and clear wax, and doodle right onto that with a Sharpie, then stick on half-stacks of Post It notes.   This way, it is far more durable and I can simply remove a note when it is complete, and not have to stick another note in place, since the rest of the stack is beneath it.

I am still finishing up my desk, so for now it is hanging on my recently painted wood wall.  Are there some of you out there who think I just slipped a swear word, saying, “painted wood”?  Yeah.  I know.  I am not one of you.  I see wood and I just want to paint it so bad.  Not sure why that is, but I am always happy when I do!  You will get to see the wall in all it’s glory soon…

Gotta go stain a desktop!  I have almost all week off – there will be no excuse if I can get my room done and share this week!

busy bee

I have been a busy bee this week.

I have been frantically and lovingly working on tying up loose ends in my room, including tv area, dresser display, wall art and a crafting / office area.  Tiny sneak peek?  Okay…

DSC_0728

Had to move my crafting desk and create storage on the walls.  Full post to come next week.  Off to Ikea today to pick up the last two things I need.  So excited.

Trained someone to take over most of my hours at work for the next couple months.  Huge relief.  Though I am sure I will be happy to pick up my hours again when it gets busy and have the benefits of a paycheck again.  =)

I have told you about my Forever 21 fetish…

I was really surprised that they took the time to wrap my mail order in tissue and put their sticker on it.  That’s usually what little boutiques do.  They are not a boutique.  They are like the Ikea of fashion.

I had to exchange part of my online purchase today and picked up these beauties…

Earrings were $3.80 each and necklace was $5.80.  Excellent.

This is kind of turning into a Thursday Latelies post.  With all the random things bringing me joy lately, but without all the awkwardness that me on video would bring to your otherwise lovely day!  ;)

Last week, I got two of these for a buck at the dollar store…

I think they have a sweet vintage look and I put sky blue votives in them, which look so fresh, I love them.  Amber, I found them after I went in search of the rose glasses you showed me; I struck out on the glasses but found these, so I was happy!

I’m on my way out to stop in at Ikea for the last two things I need to complete my bedroom makeover, then on to the airport to pick up some friends!  Be sure to check back tomorrow with a Pinterest-inspired project.  Peace!

clock re-do

I told you in my broken hearts post that a little room we use for AWANA at church had been broken into and vandalized.  One thing that got trashed was our clock.  It was nothing special, just a $4 target clock in a bright magenta.  I went back to get another this week and they only had white.  BO-RING.

Standing in the store, I had an idea.  I brought the white one home and didn’t even take it off the packaging before I added some color…

I think it turned out okay!  I simply used craft paints and a medium sized brush, painting random little dashes in different colors on three different rows until it was filled in.

I I like the sort of watercolor feel it has, and it takes the clock beyond boring office white, which is what I needed to do.  I can’t wait to go add it to the room!

What do you think?  Too weird and random?
