Christmas Eve Public Service Announcements

Three announcements.

First, people… I just made these…

That’s her picture.  I’m too lazy to take a picture and there’s no way these are still going to be around when it’s light in the morning – I am going to have to make a whole new batch.

My method… I followed the recipe – with a couple tweaks --

  1. Doubled the cinnamon mixture and doubled the butter, ended up using almost all of both.
  2. Instead of combining the above, I cut up the cold butter and put chunks on each strip of dough, sprinkled on the the cinnamon mixture, and rolled each one individually, so they didn’t get smashed and turn oblong.
  3. It is KEY to put on some frosting while they are hot; it drips down inside the roll, mixing with the cinnamon mixture and contributes much of the goo.  I doubled the frosting, too and put an extra dollop on top of each roll before devouring.

SOOOOO good.  Making more tomorrow morning.

Second, I took pictures of the kids, trying to copy this pin.  This is what we ended up with…

It took a lot of messing around to get there, but we had some fun and I got some shots I liked, especially the last two.

Finally,  I hope you all are having a good time with family and friends this holiday.  Be thankful for those blessings in our lives.  And realize how immensely huge Jesus’s journey to the Earth for His blessing of salvation is.  We saw Him portrayed in a documentary wearing the crown of thorns today.  A reminder which helps make apparent the depth of His love for us.  Mark and I had a good talk about it.  Not only did He suffer worldly persecution, pain and mocking.  But actually taking our sins upon Himself.  It is pretty unbelievable.  I can only will myself to believe it, I can’t actually imagine someone being selfless enough to take my sin upon their shoulders; but I know it to be true because the Bible tells us so.  Incredible.

That’s all I got.  So Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year!  And many blessings!

first ever “casual” bridal shoot

So, as I said in the last post, there wasn’t more than about ten minutes to spend photographing Josh and Sarah after their ceremony / before their reception.  We knew this would happen since they didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, so we scheduled a “casual” bride and groom shoot for after the honeymoon.  And rescheduled it due to rain.  And still ended up having to do it in the rain!  But we made still managed to capture some fun shots…

It was a lot of fun and really nice to not be stressed, interrupted or pressed for time during the shoot.  Considering the freezing cold temperatures, rainy weather and also a flash not working, I was happy with the shoot.  Doing a casual shoot is something I would recommend to those traditional folks out there, sticking to their guns about the groom seeing the bride for the first time that day at the ceremony, but still wanting a thorough and creative photo shoot!

Now, I must buckle down on editing the wedding I shot just last weekend!

Godbless!

another wedding

I’m finally back – and with good reason!!!

I had the pleasure of photographing another wedding back in late October.  And it was extra sweet because it was the wedding of my dear friend, Sarah.   Here are some of my favorite shots from the day…

Then we had about fifteen minutes (literally) to snap some photos of the B&G, the whole wedding party, and all the family w/ the B&G.

They made their getaway in the bride’s old, beloved pick up truck.

It was the sweetest wedding and Sarah is a talented photographer, so I was very honored to be capturing her memories on her special day.

Since we were limited on time for the bride and groom shots, we decided to do a casual shoot with just the two of them after the honeymoon with plenty of time for creativity and no stress, so I will share those photos in a separate post.

Hope your week is going well!  Godbless!
